Nourishing waxes, botanical extracts and a subtle vanilla scent: our balm brings different ingredients together for smooth, supple lips. Get to know them – where they come from, their properties and the role they play in the balm.
Beeswax forms a thin, water-repellent film on the skin that can help reduce moisture loss. It softens the skin and gives the balm its firm consistency. This natural wax comes from honeycombs and is purified for cosmetic use.
Chamomile extract comes from German chamomile. Known for its soothing and skin-conditioning properties, it is particularly valued in the care of stressed skin.
Black tea is made from the leaves of the tea plant. It contains plant polyphenols with antioxidant properties. These include theaflavins, which develop during processing and contribute to the tea's characteristic colour.
Peppermint leaves have a distinctive, fresh scent. In skincare, they are valued for the refreshing feeling they give the skin.
Sage is an aromatic plant with skin-conditioning and soothing properties. Its extract has antioxidant and mildly astringent properties – meaning it has a tightening effect on the skin's surface.
Witch hazel provides leaf extract and plant water for skincare. Witch hazel water is obtained by steam distillation and is valued for its soothing, skin-conditioning and mildly astringent properties.
Walnut extract is a botanical extract from the walnut tree. It contains plant compounds with antioxidant properties that can help counteract oxidation reactions.
Lanolin is obtained from sheep's wool. It can absorb water and makes rough skin soft and supple. Lanolin alcohols derived from it help combine water and oil and stabilise the consistency.
This organic UV filter absorbs UVB rays from sunlight and converts their energy into heat. This reduces the amount of UVB radiation that reaches the skin.
Tannic acid is one of the tannins that occur naturally in plants. In cosmetics, it is used for its astringent property: a tightening effect on the skin's surface.
Propylene glycol binds water and helps retain moisture in the product. This colourless, nearly odourless liquid also acts as a solvent, helping different ingredients distribute evenly.
This fatty alcohol is a waxy blend of cetyl and stearyl alcohol. It softens the skin, gives the balm firmness and supports an even mixture of water and oil.
Vanilla aroma gives the balm its warm, subtly sweet scent – from opening the tin to applying it to your lips.
Water dissolves water-soluble ingredients and acts as their carrier. With the help of emulsifiers, it combines with the oily ingredients to form an even mixture.
